Crazy Quilty March Week 4

I'm still working on Pat Sloan's Crazy Quilty March Challenge.  So far I haven't miss a day... Yahoo!!!
Some day's were easy peasy, while other day's had me tearing up the whole house searching boxes and cupboards to gather up items of like kind to organize.

I took photo's of my activities during this challenge this week, but with all the people staying home and online these day's, my satellite internet connection is moving at a snails pace, so I'll try to put up photo's of today's prompt and leave the rest for another time.

So, Today's prompt was "New Love"...

I had purchased a fabric collection called "Ballerina Fusion" a Collection I found over at Sojo .
For the pattern,  I had my eye on "Silver Starlight" by Maple Cottage Design, for a long long time,  so today I went ahead and purchased it to go with the Ballerina collection. It's going to be a perfect match.  Don't you just want to cuddle up with some nice hot Chai tea in that quilt?  I can't wait to work on this project in April.

It's been a Crazy Quilty March

I've been following along with Pat Sloan, Doing the Crazy Quilty March Challenges this month.  It's been great, and I've organized so much stuff, that it's unbeliveable I can fit so much into my smaller space.  Last night  I totally forgot my challenge so today I tackled Two.
Today was to tidy up.  To find a container, drawer, box, bag or what ever and sort through it and put things where like things are to be...
I had this corner of the RV where I have been stacking some containers of quilty / sewing stuff to go through later and organize, three in all, so this was a great opportunity for me to Tidy it all up.

First thing I noticed is one container was almost all UFO"s.  I have been looking forward to gathering up all of them into one place for awhile now and had a few in a small pile that I had ran across earlier this month. It's so much fun running across old UFO"s. For me it brings back all the excitement I had in the very beginning of wanting to put them together.

Oh Look!!! I totally forgot about this one...  I just love this fabric. This is called "Forget Me Not" - a Mystery BOM by Esther Aliu from back in 2012.  It's an applique quilt... I hope I have the rest of this pattern so I can complete it. I know I prob. saved it on one of my laptops back then, but since then i have lost a lot of my drives I had saved things on.
I have all my UFO's found to date, sorted, and most of them in bags and put into a container where I can find them quickly later when I'm ready to work on them again.  I also took a note pad, and as i found ea. one, I wrote down the name of the project, what was in the bag, what it might be missing, aprox. how far I was along in the project, and if the pattern was included. I have named this container UFO No. 1 and I can already see that I'll need a No. 2.  Anyone who has ever followed along with Bonnie Hunter's yearly QAL Mystery's will prob. recognize "Orca Bay" on the top of the pile.  It's almost ready to quilt, so shouldn't be long now and that one will be finished.

Earlier this week we had a challenge to look for one of our "lost loves"... (a lost ufo) and I found one I had been wanting to finish for over 30 years.  It is dated in the late 1980's and was one of the very first projects I started when I first wanted to learn to quilt.  Being I tend to try to organize everything in my life, I told myself, 'You want to learn to quilt, then you need a carry tote so you can go to classes'... so that is where I started.

This is both front and back pcs.  There is no pattern, but I do have an photo of what it is suppose to look like when finished.
I didn't know HOW to quilt at the time, so that is where I stopped.  This month's goal is to purchase the rest of the fabric, and start drafting out my plan on how i want all this to go together.  This is going to really be fun as I love to design patterns.

Ok, this is getting long, so I just have one more quick photo to share of yesterday's challenge for Crazy Quilty March and it's prompt was color.
We were to pull all our quilting fabric out (or go through our shelves) and see how much we had of ea. color set... did we need more of something , maybe more solids, more colors, etc. etc.  So basically taking inventory of our stock. Well, mine are still in storage (or at least it seems that some are missing).. I didn't have a lot when I moved anyway, but I'm sure i had more then this.  My stash is horrible. Odd prints, mismatched colors and a whole lot of lacking colors in any type of color range.  No wonder it get's frustrating trying to finish a project when I don't have or can't find a color to pull and use.
A good excuse to do a little shopping - even if it has to be online for now.
Take care, stay safe, and stay home and quilt!!!   ~ Rhonda

UFO's for 2020

I was talking with some old friends on FB and started looking for photo's of some quilts I knew I had but that I still needed to finish.  With moving several times and everything being stored for so long I was amazed at how many I had started that were not finished yet.  Here are a few of my unfinished objects (UFO's) that I hope to finish this year.

"RRCB"  my first mystery quilt and I believe it was Bonnie Hunter's of Quiltville's... first mystery Quilt A Long (QAL) given as well.  So that shows how old this one is.
It was so fun that I had hoped to do one every year, but like I said, between remodeling homes, moving, and my sewing supplies and equipment being in storage on and off so many years it just didn't go as planned.

Oh I want to mention that all Bonnie Hunter's quilts are designed to be made from scraps.  So if you have lots of scraps you can't throw away, this is a great QAL to participate in, putting them to good use and clearing space for the next year's worth of quilting.  Plus she gives great tips as we go through each clue as well.

Next I have another Mystery Quilt from Bonnie Hunter (Quiltville), called "Orca Bay".  Don't you just love how these blues and greens go together.
Being I'm over on the Washington Coast now, I am even more eager to get this one finished and quilted.

This next one is a log cabin quilt.  I had been playing around with various layouts of the blocks and pretty much decided on this one before putting it away.
What to name it?  Any idea's?

My big star quilt... pretty much the first quilt I ever made other then a small baby quilt I think. IT isn't done either.  Oh My.  But it's close.  I believe it just needs to be quilted and then the binding and label added.

This is Hearts Desire.  It's all hand applique.  I followed along on one of Esther Aliu's BOM (block of month) online projects.  I can't remember if this was the first one I did of her's or not, but I know I have at least two more in progress right now, no... three....  I found my quilt passion in doing hand applique.
This one has a lot of border work still. It is a true heirloom and I hope someone in my family will love it as much as i have in making it.

This last one is called "Peacefull Pathways" and it is also a quilt designed by Esther Aliu as one of her yearly BOM.
This one is going to a family member of mine and is my priority unfinished project to finish this year.  I still a lot of border work, as well as some machine embroidery to do on this one.  I better schedule it into my quilting schedule starting this coming week, as my goal is to have it finished before July 1st.

Well, that is a lot to hope for in one year, and if I am even going to get half of them done I better get off this blog and finish my morning chores  so I can get busy putting together "frolic" -- Bonnie Hunters 2019/2020 Mystery QAL.  So bye for now.
